Media print
is still the most used communication channel of companies around
the globe. Small as a calling card or of the size of large format
printing; it presents your company in many ways. Print is
versatile, colorful and expressive.
The calling card is one of the most distributed items of a company.
They are used to recommend and are passed on. The impression it
leaves is most important because it reflects your brand. Your
status, professionalism and trustworthiness are measured by it.
Branding an office using large format printing
Getting called into the office of Unisys in Netherlands, Amsterdam
- Schiphol Rijk we saw this 25 meter long and 3 meter high wall,
separating two huge rooms. This should be the target of creativity
and it's theme should reflect the multicultural teams that handled
the service desks and modern communication. The one side of the
wall was monitoring the global networks and the other side
providing the helpdesk for many European companies, that outsource
their need for high quality IT-support.
This is a part of the wall which is more extended to the right.
It created an boring atmosphere with the dark gray color especially
on cloudy days from which Netherlands has many.
We decided to apply large format printing - as the decoration
should be movable and able to be attached to other walls, we have
chosen canvas, to create an easy transportable artwork. A
questionnaire was rolled out and distributed under the 2 teams
working in the two offices, we found out that the employees were
all fond of the architecture of the places of their origin.
Based on this fact we decided to use the most appreciated
architecture of each country, placed against a summer sky, like a
picture book of Europe's treasures. All is staged on colored
network cards symbolizing connectivity, creating a surrealistic
base at eye level. A Hue starting North in blue and ending South in
red added colors harmoniously. Oversized figures were place into
the scenes, doing their thing, without paying attention to the
viewer, corresponding with the demographic features of the local
people and all using modern communications. We have chosen a
panoramic view to create the depth and a 3D effect with reflections
and shadows.
Each scene has the map on the virtual floor of the picture and the
names of countries are spelled out in their original language.
The design of the wall brightened up the room immensely, creating a
serene and light environment wherein the employees feel at ease and
they can let their eyes wander off, after having starred for hours
at the screen of their PCs.

Due to the measurements, printed artwork like this is not cheap but
is a unique feature that is appreciated very much by the employees
and just as much by the clients that visit this centre on a regular
basis. It's amusing to watch when people start to point out
buildings in Brussels or Rome and say proudly:"I have been there".
A gesture like this demonstrates care for the employees and an
appreciation for the arts, a very healthy and multinational company
indeed, doing exceptional well in IT business.
Print work we handle:
Packaging
Good packaging results in shifting the attention of customers to
the product itself even when surrounded by dozens of similar
products. It should resonate on the emotional level of the target
group and should satisfy their taste and preferences.
Use of colors
Colors are perceived differently depending on the demographic
launch of a product. Colors are associated in Asia with different
emotional values than in Europe or America. Knowledge like this is
indispensable to be truly successful when communicating with print
and pictures.
